Introduction to Digital Photography Skills

Duration: 1 Day

Objectives

To provide training in basic photographic techniques, including both creative and theoretical practices, using a combination of practical work and theory. This course is delivered by an ex-professional advertising photographer. Please bring your own camera along. Important info for scheduled course delegates: cameras used for training must be DSLR or interchangeable lens-system cameras which allow for manual settings.

No prior knowledge.

Features of the Digital Camera

•    What modes and programs to use

Exposure
•    Aperture and shutter speeds and how they relate to different subjects
•    Over and under exposure compensation
•    Assessing a scene for correct exposure

Digital Camera Files
•    What file size to use
•    What is compression and how will it affect the image

Using Flash lighting
•    Using flash to light a scene
•    Using flash to add to the scenes existing lighting

Available light
•    Making the most of the existing light
•    White balance
•    Light balance
•    Back lighting
•    Different lighting for different subjects

•    Lighting objects

Composition
•    Composing various scenes for pleasing pictures
•    Composing images for text overlay
•    Various techniques to improve difficult scenes
